State Museum of Leo TolstoyState Museum of Leo Tolstoy – the most important stocks depository of greatest Russian writer and sage containing materials concerning study, popularization, publication of his heritage, stocks of many of his contemporaries and followers. It is important scientific, educational and cultural center of Russia. State Museum of Leo Tolstoy invites guests and citizens of Russian capital to make a visit to the State Museum of Literature (Prechistenka st., 11), L.N.Tolstoy Museum-Estate "Khamovniki" (L’va Tolstogo st., 21) Exhibition Pavilion at Pyatnitckaya st., 12 and Museum of memory “Astapovo” at the station Lev Tolstoy in Lipetsk Region. Literature museum is located since 1920 in the house of Lopukhiny family – unique construction from the times after Patriotic war of 1812. It gives a chance to imagine life style and creative work of writer. House of Lopukhiny family is preserved without any changes. Exposition “Earth and Heavens of Leo Tolstoy” of Literature museum has rare exhibits such as publications of Leo Tolstoy’s works including first publications; personal stuff of the writer, original illustrations to his books, portraits of Leo Tolstoy by famous Russian painters who lived at the same time - Ilya Repin, Mikhail Nesterov, Leonid Pasternak; graphic and sculptural works; scenes photos of performances and movies based on his books; photos of Tolstoy from his different life stages. It helps visitor to keep track of spiritual searching of great person. Organisation of readings with cultural and art figures is regular activity of Museum. “Literature drawing room” and “Musical assemblies at Prechistenka” are very attractive for visitors. Celebration of birth and death dates of Leo Tolstoy is traditional for Museum -9th of September and 20th of November, along with International Day of Museums – 18th of May. Museum address: ул.
