Luzhniki Olympic StadiumThe Olympic Stadium Luzhniki is one of the major sports and entertainment complexes in the world. It is located in a picturesque district of Moscow, occupies the territory of over 145 ha and consists of 140 different sports facilities, which are served by 3,5 thousand people altogether. The Grand Sports Arena represents the centre of architectural complex of Luzhniki. Swimming Pool is located to the south, the Small Sports Arena – to the north. The Palace of Sports, training skating rink “Crystal”, Druzhba Multipurpose Arena, Sports Village, Tennis Centre, Northern and Southern athletic fields, many football and archery pitches, tennis courts, game fields, a lot of cafes and restaurants are also located in the territory of Luzhniki Olympic Complex. Arenas of "Luzhniki" comply with the latest requirements of international sports federations. The Grand Sports Arena was granted the status of 5-stars stadium under the resolution of the UEFA committee after the reconstruction in 1998. The sports complex on a regular basis hosts matches and sports events of national and international levels, as well as festivals and shows of world-famous celebrities. "Luzhniki" today is also a system of parks and flower gardens. The most unique is “Eternity recognition” devoted to new millennium and held record in Guinness World Records – occupies 3000 sq m and consist of 35000 simultaneously flowering plants. Luzhniki is proud of its history. Experts and amateurs are always welcome in the Museum of Russian Sports. The Alley of Outstanding Sportsmen of Russia has been opened in the territory of the sports complex such as Nikolay Starostin, Lev Yashin, Eduard Streltsov and Ivan Yarygin. In July 2001 in front of western stand of the Grand sports Arena a monument dedicated to the Moscow Olympiad '80 has been unveiled.
